ITV Good Morning Britain: Piers Morgan reveals poll to sack him ‘led to pay rise’


 Piers Morgan has faced a barrage of criticism on Twitter for declaring he now “identifies as a penguin” following recent news that the BBC considers there to be “100 genders” However, there have been calls for the Good Morning Britain presenter to be “sacked” from his role on the ITV show   It all started three days ago when fans on Twitter shared their thoughts about whether the journalist should be fired from his role over his views on gender   Piers has been updating his followers about the results as the poll revealed some some surprising figures  The poll, which was titled, “Should Piers stay or leave,” was featured on Good Morning Britain on Monday   Hitting back at those who demanded he quit, Piers said on today’s edition of the show: “Let me tell you what you’ve done, you’ve helped me get a pay rise So, cheers. Cheers everybody.”    READ MORE Amy Dowden looks sensational at NL Awards show with Karim Zeroual  At the time, 482,270 people voted for Piers to leave and just 40 per cent opted for him to stay    Despite this, Piers has ruled out leaving the morning show as he had a swipe at those who requested it in the first place  Speaking to his co-host Susanna Reid, he said: “The poll was 80 per cent in my favour after the day we ran it and then these weird people in Los Angeles – very, very demented, hysterical people – got hold of the poll and they’ve now turned it into a 60/40 split against me ” “Here’s the thing, I think they genuinely think they’re going to get rid of me and that’s what makes this more the funnier You’re not going to get rid of me,” he continued.    When Susanna asked how they would get rid of him, Piers responded: “I don’t think this has been worked through ” Piers fumed as he went on about how making him “the most talked-about breakfast presenter in the world” is not the way to get rid of him   In fact, he ended thanking those people who voted against him and said: “Cheers everybody ” The clip was published on Good Morning Britain’s official Twitter today page as Piers talked to viewers   Yesterday, Piers appeared with commentator Benjamin Butterworth and the pair clashed over the presenter’s views on gender identification   A passionate Piers strongly defended his views after the petition called for him to be sacked, saying to his guest: “You’re not going to get me fired ” The presenter hit out, saying: “You go absolutely nuts and want to control how I self identify ” Benjamin responded: “Being a penguin isn’t a gender. That’s not on the gender spectrum ” This comes after Piers changed his Twitter profile picture to a penguin with his face superimposed over it   Trending READ MORE Antiques Roadshow: Chocolate box receives unexpected valuation  After claiming he identifies as a penguin, the host faced much criticism which flooded his Twitter feed   Last week, two petitions were started to either remove Piers or keep him.  One of the petitions saw 22,309 people calling for him to be removed while another said 46,288 supported him to stay    Despite all this, it seems Piers is enjoying the attention as he bragged that he’s trending third in the UK and fifth in the US

  1. well done Piers………….there are NOT 100+ genders…….making kids believe this is screwing with their minds and will cause untold mental health issues as they reach their early 20,s if not before.
